| Pennsylvania Folk
Over the past quarter century,
Pennsylvania Folk has evolved into a family owned and
operated company with a passion for history and
attention to details.
Pennsylvania Folk have acquired a
collection of unique country and folk art antiques that
we replicate for others to enjoy.
One such piece was acquired with
my son, Peter in Brimfield Massachusetts. (Peter along
with my son Michael master craftsman in their own
right). As my son Peter and I toured the fields of
Brimfield we came upon a great chests with drawers. We
both instantly fell in love with the piece. In Peter's
mind he was already back in the shop doing the first
copy. We immediately went to find my wife Bridget (A New
York City native and gifted negotiator). She negotiated
a fair price for both parties, and we became the proud
owner's of a 1730's Connecticut River Valley Chest of
Drawers.

One week later in our cabinet
shop as we were preparing the pattern from the original. We realized that this form was originally
made some270
years ago by an obscure cabinet-maker. Which at the time
had no idea that 270 years later that a family in Pennsylvania
would continue to expose a new generation to his art
form.
Each piece of our collection has
its own history and story that gives these pieces
meaning as well as aesthetic beauty.
Pennsylvania Folk is known not
only for the pieces we produce, but the authentic
finishes we are able to achieve to complete the look.
Over a quarter century we have worked to develop the
finish for each piece that is beautiful and distinct.
With our ability to produce our own paints and
varnishes, coupled with the technical skill of our son
Michael, we have perfected a finish that defies time. The
result obtained reveals an old naturally aged and
distressed finish. Our varnished pieces have the natural
crazing to add to its beauty and its historical
accuracy. This gives a patina that appears to even the
finest eye to have the result of time. When our finishes
are applied to a piece the transformation from wood to a
timeless precise replica is almost indistinguishable
from the original.
Today furnishing a home or office
space with period antiques has become challenging and
financially restrictive.
Pennsylvania Folk has developed a
collection of fine furniture and accessories from
primitive to high country. These pieces are replicas of
original's from the family personal collection, or done
with permission from private and museum
collections.
We feel the collection we have
acquired over the years are not only aesthetically
pleasing, but historically precise as well. We also
provide and alternative option for discriminating buyers
that will not compromise quality or beauty.
